The Greatest Question...
Why, please someone explain to me, is there a Fall season in golf?
The PGA Tour just put to rest a multi-million dollar advertising campaign and a huge promotional campaign for their "playoff" system, which ended just yesterday, and yet there are still seven or eight events in October - December called the Fall Season?
There will be no big names at these events (excuses to Robert Allenby who may think he is a big name), as all of the really good golfers put in their energies for the tournaments that mattered - the majors and the playoffs.
Now, we have just a scramble so that all the mediocre players can hope for a good two months so they can secure their card for another season, even though they weren't good enough to play with the boys during the season when it mattered.
The excitement will be palpable, I'm sure, when Brandt Snedeker and Tom Pernice Jr. battle out down the stretch to see who will win the 2007 Mimi's Horse Farm and Amusement Park Championship this October. That said, I'll be watching something a bit more important. Like football. Or women's bowling.
In other news, the players are already whining about the failure of the Fed Ex Cup because only three players had a realistic chance of winning the whole thing come the final tournament. MEMO TO WHINERS (aka PGA golfers): The three players who won tournaments in the "playoffs" were the ones who had a realistic chance to win the Fed Ex "playoffs." Seems like the system worked pretty well to me. Maybe, all you whiners out there should SHUT THE HELL UP and win a golf tournament and then maybe the fairness of the scoring system would be a bit more apparent.
Oh yea, congrats to Tiger. I think the question that needs to be asked is "When we call Tiger the best golfer ever...is that an understatement?"

I actually think the Fed Ex cup worked. I think there was more interest in golf than there was before. I think all the golfers who were pissed because Phil and Tiger skipped an even should shut the hell up because they aren't good enough for anyone to care about...
