Help me out...
Kosuke Fukodome gets 4 years, $48 million. Coming from a league in which no one has truly effectively rated the talent so that we have an accurate comparison to what those numbers mean, I am hearing all over the place that this is a great gamble for the Cubs and a good move for them.
Aaron Rowand gets a five year, $60 million deal from San Francisco and I am hearing almost no positive comments about this, and in fact many are trying to suggest this is a bad deal...
I don't get it. Rowand is literally getting paid 2/3 as much as Torii Hunter and will EASILY be 2/3 the player as Torii Hunter over the next five years. He also plays CF with above average defense, which is a much more important position than the corner outfield position that Fukodome will play.
I like the signing. I don't like the Giants being the team who signed him because it really doesn't make sense for them, but from an economical sense, it still makes sense.
