Email is great...
Why you may ask?
Documentation. Many of you out there have heard or read about the sordid auditor story. Well, the auditor is a contracted employee of our accounting firm and was hired as temporary help because the firm was falling behind. Well, our audit was due to be completed on the 15th of February and to date, it still isn't finished.
So, today my corporate office calls us in a rage telling us that the audit company just informed them that we have been stonewalling them and not providing them with the information they need and delaying the audit. What they didn't realize is that I have been getting E-mails from the contracted auditor and have been responding to them in an expediant manner or informing her of when I can get her the information with explicit dates.
Our audit company is basically trying to CYA the fact that they got delayed in starting our audit and in completing it and isn't even conversing with their own on-site auditor to find out that in fact all of the information has been given to them in a fastidious manner.
Thus, I faxed my E-mail correspondence to our corporate office and they faxed it to our audit company in a huff.
And it's safe to say that next year we will likely be using a new audit company.
Which is better than keeping the current audit company and firing the Assistant Controller at our hotel.
