Fine, Fine, Fine...
I was reading the Strib today, and noticed the following from Sid's latest rant:
"Gophers athletic director Joel Maturi said he definitely was impressed with the job that David Wheaton did when he sat in as the tennis coach for David Geatz when Geatz was suspended after an NCAA investigation. But because Wheaton doesn't have a college degree Maturi said he can't consider Wheaton as a replacement for Geatz, who has resigned."
How can someone be an interim coach with no degree, but not an actual coach with no degree?
On to the Stadium debate...why is this a debate...a state law dictates the following:
"Imposition of a local sales tax is subject to approval by voters of the political subdivision at a general election."
I'm for a stadium, no bones about it, but if we make an exception for the Twins stadium and don't require a referendum, which special project will want this treatment next? I don't trust my politicians to decide, even though a referendum likely means no stadium.
I was looking at Wired magazine yesterday online - four of their top nine stories are revolving around environmental issues...this isn't the Wired I remember reading in college...is this weird or do I just have a bad rememberer? Anyway, one of the articles is about Al Gore and his new documentary called An Inconvenient Truth which will be released to movie theaters on May 26th. I'm pretty sure it's step three of his 12 point plan to run for the Presidency in 2008...or maybe he'll just be Hilary's running mate...THAT would be good times...anyway, it looks like it will be an interesting movie to watch...Sundance loved it...
Brett Favre - finally, thank you. Good god this un-newsworthy saga has been annoying.
Let's talk about the most annoying press statistic in the world. "The President's approval rating hit an all time low this week." IT DROPPED A PERCENTAGE POINT!!! Then it goes up a percentage points and drops two TO AN ALL TIME NEW LOW! This is about as much news as "The President's approval rating has hit an all-time HIGH for ALL President's in the wake of the September 11th attacks." Total, meaningless information. The media makes me chippy sometimes...
Most of you have probably heard about the 14 so called "Superfoods" out there, that if you concentrate your diet on these 14 foods or their "sidekicks," you can give yourself the best chance at a healthy diet. The top three are spinach, blueberries and WILD salmon. For those of you like myself who don't like fish, you have the option of taking supplements that provide the same nutrients as wild salmon. From the book I was reading about this regarding those supplements came the following line:
"If you experience "fishy burps," don't worry. These will go away after your body has adjusted to the supplement."
mmmm...sign me up.
